Aileena recently awarded holidays to some neglected objects she felt deserved some recognition. We have celebrated "Mis-matched Sock Day", "Rock day", and up and coming features include "Funky Gourd Day". You won't want to miss that one! "Rock Day" actually started a couple of days before. We had to go to the river and find just the right "participants", if you know what I mean. Preparations began and the anticipation was growing. Mom gathered paint, brushes, markers, and of course pop rocks. Finally, the festivities were to begin...
You can't celebrate "Rock Day" without these!
We all began painting our rocks. Well, all of us but one. Jens decided it would be more fun to paint his sister instead. The paint brush flew across her face leaving the orange path of paint that would forever influence the decision Mom had made to allow Jens to freestyle paint. How can you get mad though? He saw the orange paint left behind from his loud expression of Van Gogh-ism, and declared, "Uh-ohhhhh, thorry! Where did he learn such wonderful manners?
Ultimately, "Rock Day" was a success. Of course Mom took the opportunity to teach her kids what it means to build our house upon "the Rock", and Dad took the opportunity to make fun of Mom for entertaining such an event for the sheer purpose of blogging it.
All were entertained, some were painted, few were humiliated!

Hey...this looks familiar....Except for on thing: the kids look like they're having more fun than the adults. Unlike last time we tried this with Christopher.

Oh, fun! We paint rocks around here, too! We did pet rocks a few months ago and painted them to look like animals. It was the type of project that my kids are used to, but the neighbor kids that came over that day could not get over it! It's amazing what joy can be found with a little paint, sharpies, and rocks.

Those rocks turned out way cute... I think my kids would love that, they LOVE to paint stuff. Looks like a good FHE activity. :) Thanks for the idea!
